Contracommon is proud to participate in A LOT CLOSER, a group exhibition of works presented by TobarTakeover & ATX Artist Social, featuring our current Contracommon members. The exhibition will be on view at 2324 Studios ATX from September 21st through October 29th, 2023. A LOT CLOSER will have both an opening reception on Thursday, September 21st from 6 – 10 pm, as well as a closing reception on October 19th from 6 – 10 pm featuring a DJ and a panel discussion from a few of the member artists on exhibit.

Leading up to A LOT CLOSER, TobarTakeover organized this event with Contracommon in mind. Chris Tobar Rodriguez (@tobartakeover) is a multi-talented designer born and raised in Chicago, Illinois creating his best life in Austin. In addition to being a member of Contracommon and a resident artist at 2324 Studios ATX, Tobar is leading the design direction and co-creating impact experiences at _OFCOLOR, an organization that fosters community and provides opportunities for marginalized and emerging artists. As this also aligns closely with Contracommon’s ideals, the organizations are excited to collaborate. Creating this show brings the CC mission out of our Bee Cave space and A LOT CLOSER to the Austin audience

The opening reception will be held on the third Thursday, September 21st from 6-10 pm, with a closing reception on Thursday, October 19th from 6 – 10 pm. To secure your spot, please RSVP.
